On January 13th, the Florida Sport Karate League held its first General Meeting and Referee Prep Course for the New Year. In attendance were 32 league officials from the southern region; another prep course will take place later this month to prepare the northern region as well. In the General Meeting, three new Member Dojos were officially accepted and new Board Members were elected. Shihan Carlos Quintero joins the FSKL Board of Directors, Ms. Angelina Choo enters into the FSKL as the CPA for the League, and a General Counsel was assembled under the direction of Sensei Caren Lesser-Quintero. In the Referee Prep Course, Co-Chairman Jason Sorgi led the group through a review of theory and practical refereeing signals. The training was both informative and helpful in preparation to secure success for the upcoming USA-NKF referee certification which will be held on February 10th.

The Florida Sport Karate League is now an official Regional Sports Organization (RSO) with the USA National Karate-Do Federation and will be hosting a USANKF National Qualifier for those that wish to qualify for the USANKF National Championships.  This tournament will be run the day after the Sunshine State Games in Lakeland on June 17th.  This allows our members the convenience of having two tournaments back to back, which saves time and money by not having to travel on a separate day for a Qualifier.

All athletes wishing to participate in the USANKF National Qualifier must be registered as a athlete with the USANKF.
